The thundering mists of Gooseberry Falls' middle falls (photo above) announce the arrival of spring snow melt and April/May rain showers.
This Memorial Day weekend was definitely the busiest we've ever seen Gooseberry Falls state park, and once we got to the Middle Falls, it was clear why everyone had made the park a must-stop!
While I took only memories of the other waterfalls we saw along the roadway from Duluth to Grand Marais, it was a magical waterfall-chasing drive up the coast. From little gushers pouring out of rocks cut for the roadway, to all the rivers pouring over their banks along the way, it was definitely a year for the books, and a return to spring waters that made up for the droughts of the past few springs.
I did capture some video of the thunder of the falls, just in case you're missing that sign of a good spring thaw!
Thanks for stopping by!
