The First Quilting Project of 2023

Over the holidays, I was sewing and listening to a recent two- part podcast from the Quilter On Fire. In episodes 97 & 98, she was interviewing Tula Pink, the talented & well-known fabric designer, quilter, entrepreneur and artist.

The podcast was fun and informative. Tula talked a lot about her design process and her color demands of her fabric line. After listening two the 2-part episodes of the podcast, I recalled that I purchased one of Tula's quilt kits a few years ago. The mad hatter's tea party features Tula's fabric line Curioser and Curiouser, and is a pattern with 10 teapot blocks, 10 tea cup blocks, and a border with hats, a dormouse, and a rabbit.

I've sewn with her fabrics before, and loved the patterns and colors, but these lines are much more detailed and beautiful than I expected. Her fabrics are so vivid and rich!

I'm making this one for my youngest niece (backstory here), and I think the bright vivid kite-like colors and the tea-theme will be a beautiful tribute to time well-spent in Colorado (and specifically in Boulder).

Thanks for stopping by!
