Today, I played around in EQ8 to do some planning for the final quilt top for MBH4. While I love some of the designer options out there, I'm not sure how many easier 4.5" blocks will be coming... and so I'm waiting to plan primarily for the 9" size.
I wanted to be able to order the coordinating yardage to my fabric for the inner and outer borders and the binding, so I decided to play around with a pretty basic layout. This is what I'm currently planning to do:
I am planning to use the leftover layer cakes and pieces to make the 2.5" squares for the corner blocks in the sashing.
This layout includes 4.5" (unfinished) outer borders, and then 2.5" inner borders and binding. I ordered 1.5 yards of each fabric from Shabby Fabric, so that I'll have enough for the final top. I decided not to order backing... I really prefer using 108" wide backing fabric, and I'll just choose something that looks okay from Wildflower Quilt Co when I'm ready for the top to get quilted.
If there are some more blocks that look good in the mini option, I may put them together with some of the duplicate minis I've already made... and create them as a 9" fill in. We'll see how it all turns out, but it's fun to have some planning down!
Thanks for stopping by!
