My mom loved butterflies, so much that her camp nickname was "Fly" and it was the name Dad always used for her in the little notes he'd leave when he headed out of town for work. So butterflies will always be something that my family and I associate with mom.
It seems fitting, then, that the week of the 18th anniversary of her passing, I finally finished a quilt I started back in 2013 or so, for my younger sister, Heidi.
This quilt is a Fig Tree & Company pattern (Painted Ladies) with Boho Chic fabric (circa 2013). I had sewn about 4 block (and a few parts of blocks), and cut everything out, and then it got deep-shelved in my sewing room closet and wasn't uncovered until I started cleaning/decluttering this fall.
I definitely could see that I'm much better about a 1/4" seam and about accurate cutting today, than I was in 2013... but all things considered, I'm happy with how it all came together!
The sashing on this quilt is the leftover 108" wide fabric from my Erica's Sampler quilt. This one was also quilted at Wildflower Quilt Company, with an overall meandering inset pattern. The backing is a 108" wide teal cross-hatch pattern by Robin Pickens, which matched really well.
Tomorrow, if the sun is out again, I'll get a few good outdoors photos and send this one off to Colorado!
I used a micron pen for a quick (yet lazy) quilt too!
Thanks for stopping by!
