In 2016, I joined in on a Block of the Month sew along, with a pattern by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. This one included some curved sewing, lots of half square triangles, applicque, a few dresden plates and hexagons, and a lot of patience (and a little time with my sewing buddy, Jack).
This one was a labor of love, and definitely tested me in ways I didn't expect. As my skills have progressed, I look at it with a few cringes and look at the missed points and myriad other mistakes, but I'm still very proud of it.
Here's the final quilt (above). It's top quilted with a very angular cross hatch, to counter all the curves of the flowers and the vines around the edge. It's mounted on the biggest blank wall in the house, the laundry/mud room. So I see it every time I walk in and out of the house, and it brings me such joy. The dog tolerates it...
The fabric kit on this one was a bit generous (which also increased the cost, quite a bit. I had enough fabric for a fun, scrappy, practice set of 12 blocks, which became my 2022 Erica's BOM t top (minus the borders).
Thanks for stopping by!
