An Irish Chain (From the Archives)

I absolutely love March, with St. Patrick's day and all the fun and green. I long for those days when the weather (in a warmer growing climate) meant that we could plant peas in the ground on St. Patrick's day. Alas, in zone 4b, that's a dream. Our ground is usually hard-frozen for at least another full month.

But I can still celebrate all things Celtic with a fun quilt! This crib-size quilt was completed in March 2015, just in time to be a holiday wallhanging.

This snappy little Irish Chain quilt was inspired by one I saw on the customer submission pages of Embroidery Library (the embroidery designs come from them). I was really practicing free motion quilting at the time I did this quilt (notice the echo lines around the four appliquéd shamrocks).

I love this one, and the mix of embroidery, nine patch and appliqué blocks. Plus, I love the fabric, which was fun to work with!

Thanks for stopping by!
