This week, I used the quilt block as inspiration, but completely ignored the instructions. I'm just not finding her instructions to be useful!
I took two sets of 2 7/8" squares of background & print fabrics (4 squares total) and made 4 HSTs at 2.5" x 2.5". I then made four 2.5" x 4.5" Flying Geese, with 2.5" squares for a stitch and flip "Sky" for each corner. The center square is a fussy cut 4.5" x 4.5" square.
One of my goals with the year of potholders project is to keep practicing and improving my skills with each block.
This block, my focus was in figuring out/recreating the pattern for something that works for me, color and pattern selection, and improving the machine binding, with the hanging loop. I also got out my free motion quilting foot for my new Juki and did some fun free motion quilting. While not perfect, I had a fun time working with it and love how it turned out!
The quilting shows up pretty well on the back of the potholder too (see below). Thanks for stopping by!
