The quilt top for the Sherri McConnell (A Quilting Life) 2022 Sew Along/Block of the month is done! And it's Molly Approved.
This weekend, after finishing the Bossa Nova quilt, I finally finished the December block, and found that the finishing kit video and instructions were out. So I got to work.
The official finishing kit called for four-patches (finished to 2.5 x 2.5) at the six inner junctions of the rows.
But I had so many tiny triangles left from the flying geese blocks, that I decided to make them into pinwheels! I used the back ground fabric for the sashing and inner border, and a 4" outer border.
I also got the backing sewed together (I had about 3.75 yards and sewed it into a 2 WOF x 70 inches square, which should fit this 51.25 x 65.25" quilt top.
Finally, I got the binding pieced together (six pieces of WOF) and wound on this cool tool I got in one of my Fat Quarter monthly boxes. The binding is 2.5" wide and is the honey comb gold from each of the churn dashes in the main quilt.
Without further ado, here it is:
As I look at it, I see how my skills improved this year, and my fussy cuts got much better. I'm happy with how it turned out and it'll make a great lap quilt!
On to planning for the AQL 2023 fabrics!
Thanks for stopping by!
