A Blast from the Past (From the Archives)

I've really created this blog as a way to chronicle projects and hobbies and quilts that I've completed, and so I thought it would be fun, from time to time, to throw up photos from some of the older projects that I've done.

I'm sure some of these will be a bit cringeworthy as I look at missed corners and cut off points, but it'll be a fun exercise for me to see how far I have come in my quilting!

Today's quilt is what I've now named "Blast from the Past!" (as it was created in the days before I named or labeled quilts!)

This fun little baby quilt was completed in June of 2016 for a coworker, who was doing a rocket-ship spaced, non-gender-specific baby room for the little one she was expecting. I found some great space-themed bright prints... but was looking for something special for the center of the quilt, and found a rocket ship appliqué file for my embroidery machine on Etsy.

This was the first machine appliqué I did, using my embroidery machine (a Brother Innovis, 2800D). I really loved how it turned out and was pretty excited with how it all came together.

This one, I also machine quilted myself, with some very simple lines and stitch in the ditch (but looking at the picture, i see a lot of areas where I didn't decide to quilt it enough!).

The best part of this quilt was the smile on my coworker's face when she opened the package... and that made it all worth it.

Thanks for stopping by!
